Burton Music Studio Policy
Attendance
Students are expected to attend weekly lessons and come prepared with their instrument, method book(s), and notebook. BMS suggests arriving 5 minutes early to each lesson. Late arrivals may result in shorter lessons.
In the event of a last-minute change of schedule, make-up lessons can be arranged if possible, but are not guaranteed.
Payment
Burton Music Studio requires monthly payments, which are due at the first lesson of each month. If necessary, payments can be made week-to-week at time of lesson.
Accepted methods of payment include cash, check, and e-payment (Venmo, Paypal, Chase Quickpay, etc).
Cancellation/re-scheduling policy: Payment for scheduled lessons is non-refundable. In the event of a cancelled lesson, BMS will make every effort to schedule a make-up lesson according to availability. If making weekly payments and a make-up lesson is not possible, payment must be made for the missed lesson at the next scheduled lesson.
In the event that BMS must cancel a lesson, if unable to provide a rescheduled date, payment will be refunded/adjusted accordingly.
Withdrawals/Refunds
Students must give a two-week notice if they choose to withdraw from their lessons. Refunds for monthly payments will be prorated.
Calendar
BMS follows the NYC Department of Education Calendar for all holiday breaks. Inquire within about summer scheduling.
Instruments/Books
Students must acquire their own instruments, materials, and teacher-recommended method books. Email George for information about purchasing/renting instruments and materials.
Recitals/Special Events
BMS hosts one recital per school calendar year for its students. Students are encouraged to attend/perform.
Practice Expectations/Parental Involvement
Students are expected to practice during their time in between lessons. We firmly believe that if you raise the bar, students will be motivated to accomplish their goals and overcome challenges. Parents are encouraged to keep a notebook of their child’s assignments and to support the child in maintaining a regular practice schedule.
