George Burton is an award-nominated pianist, composer, and teaching artist based in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NY.

With over 20 years of experience, George has guided students of all ages and levels — from beginners to serious pre-college musicians. His former students have gone on to earn scholarships to some of the country's top music programs, including Manhattan School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, Bard College Conservatory, Indiana University Bloomington, and Boston Conservatory.

As a working artist, George brings a rare depth to his teaching. His recordings have been featured in The New York Times, NPR Music, The Washington Post, and Downbeat Magazine, and he is a Yamaha Piano Artist. His latest album White Noise was named one of the best albums of 2024.

Whether you're just starting out or preparing for conservatory auditions, George meets every student where they are — with patience, rigor, and a genuine love of music. Lessons are available in piano, violin, viola, and music theory. Virtual lessons also available.

Meet Mr. George:

Award-winning instrumentalist, composer and bandleader GEORGE BURTON is a teaching artist committed to promoting arts education and appreciation. George is a Yamaha Piano Artist whose prolific work and performances have garnered him an NAACP Image Award nomination (Outstanding Jazz Instrumental Album, 2021), multiple film festival awards, and placement on many prominent “Best Of” lists. Both live and recorded performances have been featured in The New York Times, NPR Music, The Washington Post, and many others.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, George’s former students have been awarded scholarships to some of the most prestigious conservatories and music programs, including Manhattan School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, Bard College Conservatory, Indiana University Bloomington, Boston Conservatory, and others.

George currently teaches private students of all ages at his studio in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. He performs in NYC and worldwide.

60-Minute Lesson (Intermediate to Advanced) — $175

60-Minute Master/Advanced Lesson — $225
